George Dannatt

An artist in all media, photographer and writer on music, Dannatt’s early training and career was as a chartered surveyor. From 1956 his interest in painting took hold and from the early 1960s he began a long association with the Cornish painters, in particular John Wells, Denis Mitchell, Alexander Mackenzie and Roy Conn.

Mood I - in the style of Jackson Pollock - SOLD

This is a working sketch which formed part of a presentation to a commission opportunity for a client who owns a stunning property on Beach Road, Sandbanks.

The final canvas measured a whopping 8' x 6' which I am glad to say the client was delighted with despite me having worked on it for three months due to layering the paint and drying time!!

This piece you will see is a much smaller piece and is set in a wonderful wide frame and hand painted in off white and will add a splash of color to any interior.

Hockney Landscapes - SOLD

Gael and I have returned from a wonderful trip staying with her parents in East Yorkshire. During our week there the weather was excellent and we had many days out and excursions. One of our favourite beaches in this country is at Hunmanby Gap north of Bridlington.

Bridlington was and is of course the home of David Hockney from where he created his 'A Bigger Picture' collection of work within which he captured the colours and views of the East Yorkshire Wolds.

During the days out I was continually sketching on any piece of paper I could find [having left everything at home in Dorset] so I could create a couple of landscape works on my return.

Work Two - 'Hockney Landscape II'

The piece measures 31" x 23" x 1.5" framed and is set behind glass

Heron White

This is another working sketch which was produced as a sample for an interior design client who wanted three similar pieces as unframed 4' x 3' relief panels for a new build house in Sandbanks, Dorset.

I based the shapes on loosely Patrick Heron's style of work and used the white relief finish of Ben Nicholson and I am glad to say that the client was pleased and I hope soon to have images of the three where they now hang - pending the house owners permission.

The sketch is set in a wood swept style shallow box frame behind glass and is set on a dark grey sanded backboard and is board textured with paint and sand then over painted with off white chalky paint makes a lovely small abstract piece.

16.5" x 14" x 2.5"

Please contact me for more information should you wish to.

Two Circles White Relief

This is a 'working sketch' which was one of three I produced for a customer who commissioned a large 4' x 5' unframed wall relief/construction panel for their new office reception area. This piece allowed the client to see how my thoughts may look albeit on a smaller scale and although the final version was different to this piece it worked very in the new environment.

This I have framed in a box frame and measures 22.5" x 18" x 2"
